Bulletin
Proverbs 9:1-6; Ephesians 5:15-20; John 6:51-58. In the first reading, Wisdom has prepared her table for those seeking understanding. In the reading from Ephesians, we are instructed to live not as foolish persons but as wise. In the Gospel, Jesus tells the crowds that he is the bread from heaven, and that whoever eats of him will have eternal life.
From the Pastor’s Desk
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We have the privilege of attending Eucharist daily, offered in so many churches in our country. People from other countries may not be able to attend Mass daily, due to political and religious restriction. Attending Eucharist is the core of our faith where we listen to the word of God from Scripture and receive Holy Communion.
The first reading from the Book of Wisdom tells us that the food and drink that people share are physical food. But the spiritual food that Jesus Christ gives is the insight of life through the Word of God, who is truly wisdom, and, at the Eucharist table, the meal we share is the communion between us and God. It transforms us to imitate Christ.
In the second reading St. Paul tells the Ephesians (and us) that we learn the true wisdom of God from the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit, our gathering as the church community, praying and singing at the Eucharist, is giving thanks to God the Father through Jesus Christ.
The Eucharist is the core of our faith. We believe that Christ’s body was broken and shed his blood for our sins on the cross. He rose from the death to live, so that he can give us eternal life. He continues to nurture us through his Word and Holy Communion. Every time we gather to celebrate the Eucharist, we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. During the consecration, the priest says the Eucharistic Prayers which transform the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ: “Take this, all of you, and eat it: This is my body, for this is my Body, which will be given up for you” And “Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this this is the chalice of my Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.” At communion, we receive the Body and Blood of Christ and respond, “AMEN” which means “WE BELIEVE”. We believe that we truly receive Christ into our heart and body. By eating Christ’s body and drinking his blood, we are called to be like Christ, to share his life and we are sure that Christ will raise us from the dead to eternal life. Let us remind ourselves that the Eucharist is the celebration of gratitude and thanksgiving to our Lord who gives himself totally to us. Pray for those who do not have privilege to attend the Eucharist daily. Have a blessed week! Fr. Tho Pastor
